New books to try...
(Fever Series, Book 1) A dark urban fantasy; the Fever books by Moning are hard to put down and completely pulled me in. Many of the main characters are Fae. The books are a mix of mystery, horror, action, and have some romantic tension.
Lord of the Fading Lands The Tairen Soul ; series by CL Wilson is mostly focused on the Fey but also includes elves, mages, tairens and more. It's a fantastic fantasy romance series from a new author. Once you start it, you won't be able to put it down. I love the characters and the story, which is full of action, adventure, suspense and romance. The world created by Wilson is very original. Another keeper!
Vulnerable: The First Book of the Little Goddess Series; by Amy Lane is a real find. A very good series by a new author, it's an engrossing mix of mystery, suspense, personal growth, drama, action and romance. Featuring the Fae, shapeshifters, and vampires, I liked the characters and relationship development.(Note: if the printed books are too expensive, I found ebooks (pdf) from the publisher for 6 bucks at www.iuniverse.com)
A Kiss of Shadows (Meredith Gentry, Book 1) The Meredith Gentry series is one of the few series I've found with all of the main characters being Fae. I liked the early books. Interesting characters. Lots of politics, intrigue, action and violence. The most recent book I didn't like quite as well but the series is still worth reading. Word of warning - these books are heavy on the sex scenes in case that's not your cup of tea.
Beyond the Highland Mist (Highlander, Book 1) A terrific time travel romance series, the Highlander books by Moning are full of action, adventure, suspense and romance. Great character development and intriguing story lines. Some of the books included the Fae. The first couple of books were good, not great like the later books.
Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 1) A cannot put down series, the Sookie Sackhouse novels include the Fae as secondary characters in some of the books and the main character is half Fae. The series also includes vampires, shapeshifters and other magic users. It's quirky, entertaining, full of action, adventure and a little romance.
Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer) Karen Chance's Cassie Palmer series and its spin off Dorina Basarab series both include secondary Fae and Elven characters. I liked both series, but I liked Dorina's series more which starts with Midnight's Daughter. Don't miss the anthology in On the Prowl. It's a great supplement to Midnight's Daughter, focusing on what's happening from Claire's point of view when she is on the run with the Fey prince. The stories are full of action, suspense, and a bit of romance. Another keeper!
Just a few titles to keep you inspired.
Happy Reading :)
I was doing some reading on line, and was surprised at how many people actually believe in faries, so I thought I'd leave a comment on the Farie blog here, and you just mite win a free book, in all four of my genres. So what you think? Do Fae really Exist?
To do what we authors do takes tenacity, drive, passion, and an understanding that to make it in this business; you need the skin of an armadillo.
When reviews don't go your way, or your editor says drop back 50 pages, then delete the next 30, I need more from you; it makes us sometimes what to scream, but this is what we do.
If only the reviewers understood this as well. Maybe the outside world (readers) will one day actually respect us for the sometimes harrowing craft that we do.
I'd like to share my lil world with you, so pull up a chair and sit for a spell. You can read sample chapters, watch videos, and stay in touch to see what books come out next...
